Elite Eight: SEC vs. Everyone

Master March Madness: Strategies & Key Insights for Tournament Success

Recent Props Update

Our recommended wagers for the Sweet 16 nearly swept! We mentioned yesterday that Duke did not cover the spread, but our bet on Ole Miss to at least cover was a hit. Betting on the tournament has proven volatile, but our analysis still finds a way and will only improve in the future.

Yesterday’s NBA props were also a split, with only two taken on the day. After the NCAA tournament concludes, keep checking in for regular NBA analysis, and MLB coming soon!

Quick note: Recent game trends should be taken cautiously during the tournament. Opponent quality over the last 10 games varies wildly for nearly every opponent. We are working hard to accommodate our algorithms for March Madness volatility, but for now be sure to use a critical eye. Our analysis, however, is sharp as ever!

Only two picks today - we would always rather limit our picks to confident wagers than extend our analysis outside of what is best for our subscribers.

Alabama (2) vs Duke (1)

Alabama over 83.5 Points (-120 on DraftKings)

This one is not rocket science. Bama and Duke just combined for 213 points and neither game went to overtime. Duke certainly sports a more competent defense than BYU, but you simply will not catch me trying to play games with an Alabama under. Sometimes, this does not need to be complicated. Both teams have elite offenses and we see no reason to expect anything other than a shootout. Clear your schedule, because this one is going to have fireworks.

Tennessee (2) vs Houston (1)

Tennessee covers +3.5 (-108 on Pinnacle and DraftKings)

We are continuing to expect strong performances from SEC teams. Houston barely escaped Purdue and benefitted from some truly horrible officiating down the stretch, along with another close game against Gonzaga in the round of 32. Meanwhile, Tennessee’s smallest margin of victory has been 9 points. Don’t go in expecting Tennessee to swing an upset, but this will absolutely be a close one.

🎯 Championship Futures Update

We chose several championship contenders for futures bets before the tournament. Four of these teams remain (RIP to our hometown team Maryland), and our choice of Texas Tech is the only 3 seed remaining! Unfortunately these four teams match up against each other in the Elite 8, meaning a maximum of two can make the Final Four.

Original futures odds via ESPN Bet:

  • Duke +290

  • Florida +335

  • Alabama +2000

  • Texas Tech +3300
